• Commercial Flight Status: The last major scheduled service, the essential route to Stockholm/Bromma, was operated by BRA (Braathens Regional Airlines) but ceased on January 1, 2025. The airport operator is actively and urgently working on securing a new carrier to re-establish this vital connection to the Swedish capital, with a goal to bring back the Route to Stockholm as soon as possible.
• Emergency & Societal Role: Despite the lack of scheduled passenger flights, KID’s commitment to societal benefit remains paramount. It operates as an official Emergency Response Airport, maintaining critical infrastructure for rapid medical and rescue air transport, able to open the facility for emergency medical flights with one hour’s notice. The airport also hosts a permanent base for SAR Helicopter SOUTH, which began operations in 2022.
• Green Airport Initiative: KID is actively involved in working towards becoming a “Green Airport,” promoting sustainability, including the use of bio-jet fuel for the permanent SAR helicopter base operations.
• 2025 Maintenance Alert: Please note that apron maintenance work is scheduled from August 18 to October 15, 2025. During this period, aircraft parking will be temporarily unavailable.
